New Delhi. The name of the opposition alliance ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (India) witnessed a fierce war of words between the ruling BJP and the opposition faction at the Center on Tuesday. In this episode, Union Home Minister Amit Shah termed this opposition alliance of 26 parties India as an ‘old product with a new label’. Along with this, he claimed that ‘just by changing the name, the opposition alliance will not be able to get rid of its bad past’. Apart from Home Minister Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have also targeted the new name of the opposition alliance. Let us tell you that the name of the Congress-led opposition alliance was earlier United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted on Tuesday, ‘To get rid of their bad past, the opposition alliance has changed its name, but merely changing the name to INDIA will not erase their past deeds from public memory. The people of our country are intelligent enough to understand this propaganda and treat the old product with this new label with the same disapproval.

‘Opposition alliance wants to take advantage of the name INDIA’
At the same time, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accused the opposition alliance of taking advantage of the name India. He tweeted, ‘Those who were begging for help from Pakistan to overthrow the elected government in India now want to take advantage of the name INDIA.’

The Finance Minister also wrote, ‘Those who used to give lectures only on the use of Hindi, have now forgotten India and do not consider INDIA bad. Those who forgot India while serving only one dynasty/family/caste, are remembering INDIA today. Indians recognize this opportunism.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also made a similar allegation on the opposition alliance, saying, ‘The irony is that those who want interference from abroad now believe that India can act as a cover. Nothing to worry about; People will also see through it.

PM Modi compared East India Company and Indian Mujahideen
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s parliamentary party on Tuesday termed the opposition alliance ‘India’ as the most ‘directionless’ alliance of the country so far. Citing names like East India Company and Indian Mujahideen, he said that people cannot be misled just by using the name of the country.

Congress hit back
On the other hand, while countering this attack of PM Modi, the opposition alliance alleged that he is very upset with this alliance and has started hating ‘India’ while protesting. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge tweeted, ‘The Prime Minister is calling ‘India’ as ‘East India Company’ outside the House! Congress party has always been with ‘Mother India’ i.e. ‘Bharat Mata’.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted, ‘Modi ji, you can address us whatever you want. We are India. We will help heal Manipur and wipe away the tears of every woman and child. We will bring back love and peace in the lives of all the people of the state. We will rebuild the concept of India in Manipur.
