Imphal. The Manipur government on Tuesday announced partial partial lifting of the ban on broadband internet. However, the ban on mobile internet will continue. The State Home Department gave this information in a notification. Internet services were banned in Manipur due to the ongoing caste violence for the last three months.
According to the State Home Department, the internet connection will be available through static IP only and the concerned subscriber will not accept any connection other than the temporarily permitted connection. (TSP/ISP will be held responsible for non-compliance of this condition). WIFI Hotspot will not be allowed from any router and system at any cost to the concerned customer.
Internet ban affects offices and institutions
The Home Department said that the government has considered the suffering of the people, as offices and institutions have been affected due to the ban on internet and people are working from home, besides mobile recharge, LPG cylinder booking, electricity bill payment and other online services are also being affected. The Home Department said that the ban on broadband internet is being partially lifted with certain conditions.
