Bangalore. This time in Karnataka, Congress has come to power by winning with a huge majority. This time there is no scope for instability in the government formed in Karnataka, yet Congress Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has created a sensation in political circles with his statement. He claims that despite getting a huge majority, a conspiracy is being hatched to topple the government in Karnataka.
Responding to a question while addressing the media, DK Shivakumar said, “I am aware of this (some people are plotting to topple the government). But this time the place of conspiracy is not Bangalore but Singapore. The Congress has 135 MLAs in the 224-member assembly, while the BJP-JD(S) together have only 85 MLAs.
Conspiracy to topple the government in Singapore
Even before this, Shivkumar had raised this issue twice in the past. When he was asked to share details about this, he said, “Some BJP and JDS leaders are trying to make a compromise, enemies are becoming friends. The only information I have been able to gather is that they wanted to hold a meeting in Bengaluru and Delhi, but could not, so now the tickets (for Singapore) have been booked. As a political party, we have to keep an eye on everyone, don’t we?”
Insiders are enough to topple the government.
The BJP, while rejecting Shivakumar’s allegation, termed it as a ploy to divert attention from the recent anger of Congress MLC BK Hariprasad against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Former Home Minister Araga Gyanendra said, “There is no need for any outsider to topple this government, for this the insiders of the government are enough.” The BJP was referring to the infighting in the Congress in which Siddaramaiah’s supporters are demanding action against Hariprasad. In fact, recently, Hariprasad had expressed his displeasure over not being included in the state cabinet, saying that he would not beg for ministerial berths and knew very well how to topple and make a chief minister.
The reason for Kumaraswamy’s visit is not clear
On the other hand, Shivakumar may not have given the names, but it can be inferred from this that his statement came almost a week after former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s visit to Singapore and his recent joint press address with former CM and senior BJP functionary Basavaraj Bommai. Although the information about the recent visit of Kumaraswamy could not be cleared. He has traveled many times in the past also for medical reasons. But after his visit to Singapore and Shivakumar’s statement, various speculations have started.
