New Delhi. An alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding the coastal areas on Tuesday amidst a new cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal. Heavy rain warning has been issued in Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts in these areas. Fishermen have been advised to stay away from the sea. There is a possibility of heavy rains till July 28. An alert has also been issued for some areas of Maharashtra. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is taking a meeting in view of heavy rains for three consecutive days. Orange alert continues for Mumbai today.
The Indian Meteorological Department has said that a cyclone is developing in the Bay of Bengal along the west-central and north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coast. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form in the coastal areas of North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha. A depression is likely to concentrate in the area around July 26. IMD said that subsequently the low pressure area is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards along north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts.
It will rain heavily in Telangana
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in Hyderabad, many districts of Telangana have been put on red alert. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda districts. It was also informed by the IMD that heavy rains may occur at some places in Telangana’s Jagityal, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal, Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool districts.
Orange alert in Karnataka
The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning for Karnataka. Orange alert has been issued for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Belagavi, Hassan and Shivamogga districts. It was told that there may be heavy to very heavy rains here. The Meteorological Department estimates that it may rain from 115.6 to 204.4 millimeters. An advisory has been issued to fishermen not to venture into the sea.
