New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari often remains in discussion regarding his statements. He stressed on Sunday that elections are won by creating trust and love among people and not by putting up hoardings and holding mutton parties. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways also shared a personal anecdote to support his argument while speaking at the Maharashtra State Teachers Council (MSTC) function in Nagpur.

According to media reports, while speaking in the program, Nitin Gadkari recalled how he lost the election even after distributing one kilo of mutton among the voters. In the program, he also said that voters are very smart, they get election bailout from every candidate. But they vote for the candidate they think is right for them.

Voters are smart: Nitin Gadkari
Nitin Gadkari further said in his address, ‘People often win elections by putting up posters and giving election gifts. However, I do not believe in such strategies. I did an experiment once and made one kilo of mutton available to the voters. But we lost the election, voters are very smart.

Underlining the importance of trust between politicians and people, he also said that if politicians create trust and hope among people, elections can be won even without spending on banners and posters. Nitin Gadkari further said in his comment that instead of showing temptation during elections, create trust and love in the hearts of people. In his speech, Nitin Gadkari also said that people often request him for various posts like MP, MLA or MLC. If not these, they ask for medical college, engineering college, B.Ed college or primary school (to get half of primary teacher’s salary). However, we cannot bring positive change in the country with such demands.
