However, the Finance Ministry has made it clear that the last date for depositing Rs 2000 notes in banks will not be extended, ie till September 30, you should deposit Rs 2000 notes kept with you in banks.

Minister of State for Finance said- According to RBI, the withdrawal of 2000 note was a currency management operation which was planned to avoid any inconvenience to the public or any disruption in the economy. In addition, there is sufficient buffer stock of banknotes of other denominations across the country to meet the requirements for exchange/withdrawal of ₹2000 notes.
